As with all new software though, problems have been discovered with it. The framework makes extensive use of output buffering, which can hide sneaky bugs and errors, and that has been causing some frustration. To rectify that, the new version of the framework has it's own error handler that gracefully handles both PHP and framework-generated errors. Along with that, I added basic widget functionality (really a glorified include). I don't think it undermines the idea of the framework, but we'll see how that goes.

I'm really not a fan of SVN, it puts too many data/settings/garbage files all over the place. So from now on, don't check out the source from SVN. The main obstacle in getting tinydinosaur's display of Blogger's Atom feed was getting the time right. If my host, 1&1, was worth their salt, PHP's built in strtotime() function would have worked fine. Much to my disappointment though, it didn't. After searching for a replacement, I ended up deciding to write my own.

Here's what I came up with: http://pastebin.com/f7ccbca8b

I used parse_datetime() as the function name because it was the name of a function I had found somewhere else and was using until I decided to use my own. Anyway, how it works is simple. It parses out the necessary data from the Atom time, and returns the result mktime() function with the extracted data passed to it. You can then use parse_datetime() as an argument to the date() function to format the date however you wish.

rbrw Framework

I've developed a PHP framework that takes some good ideas from the idea of MVC architecture, and I have decided to make it open source in the hopes that someone will find it, use it, and improve it (but without losing sight of what it was meant for).

Basically, it's a simple framework that allows for you to completely separate program logic and presentation. The game isn't very different from its initial release, most of the changes were just minor tweaks, like player/enemy health, bullet power, etc.

Download kk.zip, and give it a play.

Well

You're looking at the newest member of Poppenkast.

What I've Got

First off, welcome to the redesign of tinydinosaur.com. I think I'm going to keep it this way, it is definitely a lot easier for me to manage, and it looks way better. Since my last update, I've done quite a few things.

Probably the most interesting thing is my new game. Kajou Kazuma is my first ever completed game (that I released to the public), as well my first attempt at an arcade space shooter. It is also my first release under the label of Nobody's new clan, Slordig Inc. Looks like it is a lot of firsts for me.

Kajou Kazuma is a simplistic, abstract arcade shooter. You control the orange ship, attack the pink ships, and collect the green powerups. Enemies fade in and out of existance, as do powerups. The entire game is wave based, and has no end. Keep playing until you lose.

The music was made by the multi-talented Jabberwock, the creator of games such as The Wasteland and Radian. You can download the game here (1.13mb).
